If your little kitty has ever had an accident on the carpet you probably know the odor left behind is quite awful.  Cat urine itself is protein rich which gives it its terrible odor.  Removing cat urine smell is easier said than done.  Typical cleaners only mask the smell leaving it to come back later.

The reasons your cat may not be using the litter box could be several things but the main cause is often a dirty litter box.  Cats are picky about where they use the bathroom at and if its a choice between a dirty litter box and a clean corner in your bedroom its likely you are going to be removing cat urine from your carpet sometime soon or else you will be bombarded with that nasty stench of cat odor…ew!.  Cat’s bathroom habits differ just like a human’s so be sure you keep a close eye on the status of the kitty litter.

5 Steps to Removing Cat Urine

If you have a cat then its almost a guarantee at some point the kitty has had an accident on the furniture.  In my own case its rarely an accident as the little rascal thinks he is marking his territory.  Removing cat urine stains and odor from upholstery is no fun so I wanted to give you a few tips that I’ve found helpful when I am cleaning up around my own house.

You’ll need a few household items and some type of store bought cleaner to get started.  Your list will include paper towels, a sponge, white vinegar, rubber gloves, and some type of over the counter cleaner.

As pet owners we are a unique breed.  We love our animals as though they are one of our family members but being a pet owner comes with its own challenges.  Perhaps the toughest thing to deal with can be when our animals don’t behave as we wish they would.  Training cats can be especially hard.  One problem that we had around our house was the cats not using the litter box.  As fairly new pet owners my wife and I really were too sure about removing cat urine.
